At Ikai, we develop our surfaces in-house through techniques such as hand-dyed fabric appliqué, vegan leather appliqué, hand-cutting, tie & dye, and shibori. These artisanal textiles are then shaped into wearable, functional clothing.Because of the delicate nature of these textiles, we strictly recommend “Dry Clean Only” for all Ikai garments.
In the making of each Ikai garment, the piece is dry cleaned a minimum of two to three times—once after appliqué to remove neel stains, again after stitching to clear any oil marks from machines, and finally, if needed, before dispatch to ensure a clean, fresh finish.
To maintain you ikai garments at home, always dry clean. For best results, choose reputable dry cleaners who use high-quality solvents. We cannot take responsibility for colour bleeding caused by poor-quality chemicals. Iron flat on the reverse side at a low temperature, ideally with a mulmul fabric placed in between. Store in the cotton bag provided, away from direct sunlight, for a long and healthy garment life.
Please note: We do not guarantee against colour bleeding if the garment is hand-washed or machine-washed.
