CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Dry Clean Only — handle with care, iron on reverse, and store in the cotton bag away from sunlight.

At Ikai, we develop our textile surfaces in-house through techniques such as hand-dyed fabric appliqué, vegan leather appliqué, hand-cutting, tie & dye, and shibori. These artisanal textiles are then carefully shaped into wearable, functional clothing.

Because of the delicate nature of these handcrafted surfaces, we strictly recommend Dry Clean Only for all Ikai garments.

During the making of each Ikai garment, the piece is professionally dry cleaned a minimum of two to three times—once after appliqué to remove neel stains, again after stitching to clear any oil marks from machines, and finally, if required, before dispatch to ensure a clean and finished garment.

To maintain your Ikai garment at home, we recommend professional dry cleaning only. For best results, choose reputable dry cleaners who use high-quality solvents. Ikai cannot take responsibility for colour bleeding or damage caused by poor-quality dry-cleaning chemicals or improper cleaning methods.

If ironing is required, iron flat on the reverse side at a low temperature, ideally with a mulmul cloth placed between the iron and the garment. Avoid steam ironing or steam pressing, as steam or moisture may activate dye and cause colour movement, particularly in hand-dyed textiles.

Store garments in the cotton garment bag provided, in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity, to ensure a long and healthy garment life.

Please note that exposure to water, steam, or excessive moisture may cause colour movement in hand-dyed textiles. We cannot guarantee against colour bleeding if the garment is hand washed, machine washed, steam pressed, or exposed to moisture.

 

ARTISANAL VARIATIONS

Each Ikai garment is created using handcrafted textile techniques. Subtle irregularities in colour, tone, texture, and dye distribution are natural to these processes and are considered part of the beauty and individuality of the garment, rather than defects.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

We offer free shipping on all orders within India, and on international orders above INR 50,000.

Ikai is a make-to-order brand and each piece is made especially for you when ordered on our online store. 

Our usual dispatch timeline is 4-5 weeks. However, during "The Unusual Sale", all orders will be dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis. The estimated dispatch time during the sale period is 5-8 weeks depending on the number of orders received.

Once ordered, you will receive an email confirming the details of the order – product(s) ordered and delivery time. All orders are made in-house and shipped from our studio in New Delhi, India and will be delivered to the shipping address mentioned at checkout.

We ship worldwide using our trusted delivery partners DHL and Fedex.

Once shipped, you will receive a shipment confirmation email with the tracking number and link to shipment partner website for tracking. Your order can be tracked using the tracking number on the shipping agency’s website.  

SHIPPING WITHIN INDIA

We offer free shipping for all orders within India through registered courier companies.

For deliveries within India taxes and duties are included in the price of the products listed on the website.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

The shipping cost is calculated at the time of placing the order depending on the destination, weight and volume of the products purchased. We charge between INR 3000 to INR 4500 for international shipping. We also offer free shipping for orders above INR 50,000/-

For deliveries outside India, custom duties and local taxes are not included in your order, and are over and above any shipping and handling charges paid at checkout. These have to be paid by the customer to our shipping partner (DHL, Fedex etc.) at the time of shipment delivery. The amount of duties and taxes depend on the policies of your destination country.

Incase our shipping partner is unable to deliver the shipment due to non-receipt by consignee or incorrect contact details and address (as provided by the customer) and the shipment is returned to us in India, the cost of custom duties, local taxes and shipment return are to be paid by the customer.

CHANGES / CANCELLATIONS

If you wish to cancel your order, you may write to us within 24 hours of placing the order at care@ikai.in. The payment will be returned in the same mode as received within 14 working days. Once an order goes into production, cancellation and refund is not possible.

 

UNFORESEEN DELAYS

Please note that our delivery timeline does not include unforeseen delays due to natural disasters, war, calamity, epidemic or situations outside of our control. In such circumstances, your order will be processed and dispatched after our production and supply chain resumes smoothly when any of the above events have passed.
RETURN & EXCHANGE

Each ikai piece is made-to-order with love, so we don’t accept returns — but if your order arrives with a flaw, we’ll make it right.

At ikai, we make products with love, care and ensure strict quality control. As we are a made-to-order company we do not accept returns. However in the following scenarios it is possible to exchange the item(s) ordered:

MANUFACTURING DEFECT

Before your parcel leaves our warehouse, it is fully checked by our Quality Control team. If you receive an item, which is faulty or damaged, please write to us at sales@ikai.in within 7 days of receipt of the order.

We will be able to exchange items with manufacturing defect after running a stringent quality check process on receipt of the return. We will send you an email confirming that the return has been accepted. Cost of the return will be borne by the customer. The item(s) should be returned unworn and in perfect condition. Returns that are damaged or soiled will not be accepted and sent back to the customer.

Once the return is accepted we will re-make the same item and send it for you within 14 working days.

International clients will bear the cost of shipping both ways and also custom duties (wherever applicable) incase of exchange of the item. 

RETURNING ITEM(S)

If you return your item(s) by post or courier, please email us at sales@ikai.inwith your name, address, order number, reason for returning the item(s), shipping agency and tracking number of the parcel. Ikai cannot be held responsible for items lost in post, damaged in transit or held at customs.

All custom orders are excluded from the returns policy.
